When I go out one of the first things I do is visit the men’s room to see if they keep it tidy; you can tell a lot about a restaurant by the cleanliness of the facilities. To some, this might sound disgusting or disturbing; the truth of the matter is, in most cases, the care a restaurateur pays to their entire business (from food quality, to service, to presentation) can be measured and evaluated by the cleanliness of the restrooms.
Not true you say … well what kind of food would you expect to find at a gas station? When you frequent one of the fast-food type establishments, generally, what do you think of their facilities? What about the food and facilities at the local sports arena or ‘dive’ bar?

I totally agree with you about the restaurant's restroom cleanliness. I too believe that it tells much about the kitchen, the staff and the quality of the food.
Once I went to a restaurant here in Colorado Springs, and they had their baked goods on racks from the oven in the hallway with the bathroom doors !!! That appalled me horribly.
I usually will tell a restaurant if their bathrooms are horrible. They always tell me " we are so sorry" but I wonder why they don't make sure they don't have to say that.
how about the opposite? Is it okay to name names here? The restrooms at the Mercury Cafe in Denver is pretty much always immaculate, at least when I've been there. Their food? And the servers? Not so much.
Now that you mention it, I see the connection. Take the Navajo Hogan for example. The bathrooms are always very cold in the winter and recently there was puke in the urinal for a few days ( same puke for 3 days ) until the daytime bartender finally cleaned it up. The kitchen....has issues also to say the least.
